Christian Association Of Nigeria Congratulates GMB, GEJ
Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, the national president of the
Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), and the Archbishop of Abuja,
Cardinal John Onaiyekan, have congratulated the president-elect,
Muhammadu Buhari on his victory at the polls.
In a statement issued in Abuja, Oritsejafor commended Nigerians for a peaceful election, while praying for a prosperous future for the country.
He stressed the need for harmony between Christians and Muslims in the quest for a prosperous Nigeria.
The CAN president also applauded President Goodluck Jonathan for exhibiting good sportsmanship in conceding defeat to Buhari.

Also reacting to Buhari’s victory, the Archbishop of Abuja, Cardinal John Onaiyekan, advised politicians to learn that in politics there must be winners and losers.
He begged the winners to be just to the losers, adding that Nigeria would remain one, whether Nigerians liked it or not.
Onaiyekan also congratulated Jonathan for his good conduct and for conceding defeat, saying the National Peace Committee, of which he is a member, visited the State House to congratulate the president on his statesmanship.
”I am in the company of other members of the National Peace Committee; we went to greet and to thank Jonathan for conducting free, fair and acceptable elections. We also congratulated him for the conduct free, fair elections, the security and for conceding defeat,’’ Onaiyekan said.
The north east zone of CAN have also praised President Jonathan for conceding defeat to Buhari.

The chairman of the association, Rev. Shuaibu Byel, gave the commendation in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bauchi. He said: “I was so elated when I learnt that President Jonathan accepted defeat and went on to congratulate General Buhari for winning the presidential election.
“This action demonstrates that Goodluck Jonathna is a true politician and a man of peace.”
He therefore called on all politicians to emulate Jonathan’s sportsmanship.
He congratulated Buhari on his victory, urging him to carry everybody along irrespective of political, religious and ethnic differences and also fulfill his campaign promises.
A number of people have been congratulating Buhari for winning the presidential elections while also commending President Jonathan for his sportsmanship.
Olusegun Obasanjo urged Buhari to fight corruption in the country and immediately start reforms in various sectors to improve the situation in Nigeria.
